What to Buy Is the Question?

Do you have ever sit down with the Stampin’ Up! catalog and debate what to buy?  There are so many great choices in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog. Well, I did that on my June order and debated over the Sweet Cupcake and didn’t order it. Then the more I saw ideas on this stamp, the regrets set in.  Luckily my upline did order it. So I have been using hers and have fallen in love with the Sweet Cupcake.  It will be on my July 1st order.

Today’s card is part of the Paper Players Challenge. The theme is celebrate and seeing most of us celebrate birthdays, I thought this card would be perfect.   I am working on more ideas for the my PDFs to purchase including the cupcake. How to Start Building!

Well, I decided to play Paper Players Challenge and the requirement was Pool Party, Island Indigo, and Whisper White.  You wouldn’t think it would be hard to come up with something.  However, I was brain dead.  I guess after doing two small delinquent property sales; my mind decided to shut down.  So what do I do?  I sit down and page by page go through the catalog.  This means all accessories so as not to miss anything.

I got to the back and saw the mask with the stars.  Okay, I am getting somewhere.  Next back to the stamp sets.  I came to Kinda Electric.  I have always liked that stamp.  Well, the light came out.  So I started creating and realized afterwards it needed one more touch.  No not another stamp set. Back to accessories and the framelits.  Happy from Hello You was perfect.

Now you can see how I  always build a card.  Not always do I start with a color.  Pick one item — a stamp set, an accessories (like ribbon), framelit, or color. Then start building.  When you think you are done, ask does it need anything else?  If unsure, lay aside and work on something else.  Then come back a few hours later. I added the balloons.

Here are a few questions to ask yourself:

  • the purpose of the card (ex. birthday, thank you)
  • the person’s favorite colors
  • what does the person like? ex dogs, cats, flowers, etc.
  • are you mailing it? (this can effect the layering of the card)
