Before we get creative, it is good to be back.  I flew in yesterday after a wonderful time with friends in the mountains.  I will show some photos later, as I have perfect Elk photos.  They are in their rut which is about 3 to 4 weeks early.  All signs point to an early winter.

So today’s newsletter project is hoping to get your creative juices stirring.

We created this card by first stamping the background image with VersaMark ink and adding White Embossing Powder. Then, we lightly used a Blending Brush to add color over the top of the image with Granny Apple Green (don’t forget to wipe away the extra ink with a paper towel!). We added shading around the leaves with Watercolor Pencils and softened the look of the pencils with a Blender Pen.

Would you make a card with a background image?  Don’t forget to work on Fall cards like leaves and pumpkins.  Then jump into the Halloween cards.

Technique Focus

Many of us have a stack of handmade cards on hand, but what about a ready-to-go gift packaging stash? After all, when you add your own creative touch to a gift, your thoughtfulness means so much to the recipient . . . and personalization doesn’t have to be difficult! We’ll show you how to do it today with our Scalloped Gift Card Boxes and the Grateful Blessing Stamp Set.

To customize this project, we added a little color to the box top using Garden Green ink and a Blending Brush. We then stamped the greenery, again with Garden Green ink, and “masked” the flap for a subtle touch—making it seem as if the leaves are emerging from the box crease.

The rich, green ink on the box created the perfect, garden-like backdrop for the next addition to the project: the gorgeous bluebell centerpiece. Using the two-step stamping technique, we stamped the floral outline in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Before applying the coordinating silhouette image, we inked the stamp with Azure Afternoon and added Blueberry Bushel ink to the flowers with Sponge Daubers to create depth. We then colored the leaves with Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. Once finished, we die cut the image and adhered it to the box top.

To complete the project, we added a lovely Basic Beige Cardstock tag stamped with Blueberry Bushel ink, some Baker’s Twine, and a smattering of Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems. So cute!

I Am Racing By

The title of this post is literally how I feel.  Like everyone else, we all are busy, and many are going in different directions.  I just got done with two Farmer’s Markets which were very successful.  I have golf this afternoon and dinner with friends afterward.  This follows up with lunch on Friday with more friends.  A Craft Show Saturday this one is new to me.  Plus I am getting ready to go on vacation next week.  I fly out on Wednesday and am looking forward to relaxing.  I forgot to tell you that I am heading to my favorite place Estes Park, Colorado where I will meet some friends. So I thought this Racing By Stamp Set was perfect for the way I am feeling.

This card strictly stamping and no cutting out the images.  The three strips are 1 3/4″ x 4″.  I chose Real Red for the main car and kept the others in Black and White.
