Time for Hocus Pocus

September will soon be leaving us and October will be here.  If October is here then Halloween is not far behind.  I feel we never have enough Halloween cards.  Potions and Spells give us a chance to create various Halloween cards.  Today’s card is the first time I have used the cat. So let us do some Hocus Pocus.

This card went through some changes. Originally the “Happy Halloween” was on the side, but there was too much space at the top.  So when I moved it there was a slight tear. So I covered it with the potion bottles.  If I did this card again I would either shorten the green paper or add another stack of books.

For Halloween Designer Series Paper Stampin’ Up! gave us done.  So I searched through the Designer Series Paper and found some in Zinnia DSP that would work.

September 16th Weekly Newsletter

Exciting news from Stampin’ Up! FREE Shipping on September 18th.  You need to buy $75 of product to qualify for FREE Shipping.  So start today and make a list.  This will give you about $25 in additional products.

Today’s Newsletter project is all about casing.

Always looking for a new layout for your cards? Why not CASE the layout of a card you already love? All you have to do is create a sketch of the layout and follow that to your creative heart’s desire (like the one above)! For example, we loved the layout of the Dear Santa card so much, we wanted to make CASE it to fit an entirely new vibe—and because the sketch is so versatile, it can fit any smaller image and bold sentiment.

We used Natural Tones Stampin’ Blends to color in the cream topping and pie crust. Then, we stamped the images and color them in with the light tone of Stampin’ Blends of the same color. For the plaid cup sleeve, we created it with the bullet tip of the Stampin’ Blends, and then stamped the cup in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Fussy cut the cup sleeve and place it on top of the image.

The end product doesn’t look like you copied anything, but it was just enough to get the creative juices flowing. What can you create if you CASEd the layout?

More Halloween

Good morning stampers.  I am trying to be chirper this morning after the hectic weekend.  I have three Farmer’s Markets this week. Two are the final of the season.  However, this is not the reason for hectic. It is the next weekend that I have the big one at the Fairgrounds. It is three days. I will have cards, but the primary products are my soap and skincare products. I have been making soap like crazy. Now I can move to my lotions and sugar scrubs.

So I am trying to add some more Halloween cards.  For the upcoming shows, I love Potions and Spells.  I need to make some color adjustments. I used Purple Posy because my Highland Heather Blend is dying.  If do this card again I would not put the two Pumpkin Pie books together.   I know you are wondering about one stack of books.  Those came from the Bird’s Eye View stamp set.  Just fussy cut them out.

Special Note: Normally when I layer a card it is always 1/4″ on each layer, but I didn’t want the  Basic White to be that small.  So I started with the Basic Black and Gorgeous Grape in layering. The Glorious Grape is almost 1/4″ and the next colors were about 1/8″.
