Time to Look at Colors

Good news! My Friday project is off to my assistant and should be ready for you on Friday. I am still working on Thursday’s card.  However, Tuesday’s newsletter is ready for you. I thought we would focus on color. Did you notice there is a Color Theory Wheel in the Annual Catalog on page 132?

Do you like being crafty but struggle with color schemes? In the May 2024–April 2025 Annual Catalog, we made a color wheel to help you find the colors you need for your next project.

We used color theory to create the samples above, and each sample exemplifies a different aspect of the color wheel: analogous, monochromatic, triadic, and complementary.

For the You’re the Best card, we used the analogous colors, three colors that are side-by-side on the color wheel. If you’re new to the game, our Change can be Beautiful card shows off what you can do with a monochromatic theme—just pick a color you love and pair it with shades and tints of that same color! The Best Birthday Wishes card demonstrates the beauty of crafting with colors that are evenly spaced out on the color wheel, it might surprise you what you can come up with! And last but definitely not least, the So Excited for You card shows complementary colors—opposites that attract each other—to create bold contrasts.

So now it is your turn to give the color wheel a try. You just might find a color combination you have not used.
